Wedding planning sounds like fun, doesn’t it? The reality, quite often, is a bunch of spreadsheets, broken budgets, tricky decisions over who gets left out of the reception and one very stressed bride-to-be.
The good news? It doesn’t have to be that way. The internet is full of brilliant resources and bloggers who you can rely on to offer sage advice and help guide you through what should be a joyous process.
In this post, we are going to list our top 10 wedding blogs. Bookmark, subscribe - read!
Charlotte O’Shea launched her wedding blog in 2009 following her own wedding. She noted that other UK brides could do with an online platform frequently updated with ‘Big Day inspiration’. And inspiring it is, by the bucketload. Now run by a team of five, Rock My Wedding delivers sage advice and a brilliant, handpicked supplier directory.
An endearing name for a very endearing wedding blog. This Scotland-centric website was devised and developed by a team of creatives, and it shows; their decision to run a ‘design-led’ blog has resulted in a site you’ll struggle to take your eyes off.
Louise Baltruschat Hollis’ wedding blog, by its own admission, ‘doesn’t fit into any box’. It’s principal focus is on wedding photography, but there’s a good stream of general Big Day advice on tap too, and it’s easy to get lost amongst its many wondrous pages.
A beautifully classic piece of design, the Love My Dress blog draws you in instantly. Its mission is simple: to deliver wedding style advice organised neatly into seasons, designers, colours and even eras. Want a 20s-themed wedding but not sure where to turn? You’ll find inspiration here.
This fantastically simply wedding blog offers the usual advice, but sets itself apart by presenting mini ‘reviews’ of real weddings with an abundance of photography from other couple’s big days. There’s no better way to get inspired for you own.
At first glance, B.Loved looks like an ultra-stylish online wedding shop, but it is, in fact, a superb blog full of inspirational ideas. Again, photography plays a central role and there’s a fab wedding supplier directory to hunt through.
It’s all about love, Brides Up North. In particular, the team behind this comprehensive wedding blog write about weddings and suppliers they love and highlight the benefits of looking on your doorstep when recruiting suppliers for your own wedding. As you’d expect, they’re entirely northern-focussed, but such advice can be applied to any wedding, no matter where it is taking place.
If you want your wedding to be a mix of contemporary, luxe and relaxed, Juno & Joy should be at the top of your bookmark list. It’s a heavily design-led site, but has a clear focus, which is to assist couples in creating unique, personal celebrations of their love by offering advice and connecting them with reputable, talented suppliers.
Launched in 2011 by ‘The Boss’ Hester, Wedding In A Teacup features possibly the most inventive, tongue-in-cheek name on this list, and the personality of its founder and fellow contributors shines through every post. Along with the usual Big Day advice, they also have a fabulous online store which sells everything from wedding favours to hen do accessories.
As you would guess from the name, they don’t come much more traditional or as comfortingly British than The English Wedding Blog. I recommend downloading the free e-book which features advice from ‘real couples’ to help you plan your wedding, but the blog itself is updated regularly with rich content including some fabulously inspiring wedding photography.
The internet is full of wedding inspiration and the blogs above will help you plan a day you’ll never forget. Something tells me you’ll continue to read them long after your wedding, too!
